SERVICES:

Right up front, know that I record in my family room at home, mainly through interfaces, into a DAW. No mixing board or physical effects-units. If you are looking for a major studio full of gear and a massive, multi-room presence…MARE Studio is NOT it. But I get it done!

Now, moving on... I am willing to work with any artist at any rate they can reasonably afford. The prices shown here are for well-established musicians who can afford it. We can find the right level for you. I do this almost entirely for the joy of it.

I welcome artists to visit me in my studio so they can see and hear first-hand what I have to offer, how I work, and sense of what our friendly, dedicated cooperation could result in.

Your artistry being shown in its best and fullest expression is my only goal, and...

THE FIRST SESSION AND MIX ARE FREE IF YOU PLAN AN ALBUM PROJECT. YOU HAVE NOTHING TO LOSE AND A LOT TO GAIN. :)

If needed, I can add the following to your project(s):

Mixing

 

I record at low levels to ensure maximum dynamic range in your master…and I ask you do the same if you send me stems (individual tracks). I can spend hours making sure the combinations of volume, panning and effects work to create a brilliant, exciting sound. It is the small (sometimes VERY small) tweaks that make ALL the difference! I mix to the master…that is, I strive to have the final mix as close as possible to the master profile, so mastering is just icing on the cake.

 
 

Mastering

 

I use Logic Pro X, the full Waves (Abbey Road, etc.) catalogue, and other plugin software, to take your wonderfully mixed track, that you have approved, and make it brighter and more dynamic, and playing at current loudness standards…it is this process that elevates your track(s) to being stream-ready! I use both the Abbey Road mastering suite, PLUS I have added three separate Waves studio simulations, which allows me to hear (through my headphones!) how the song would sound were I sitting at the mastering desk in that studio, in the perfect room-EQ with large, balanced monitor speakers. I also listen on my own studio speakers. So I can make it sound “exactly” right! I have added two other such “studios”, one Nashville and one LA based. Each track deserves its own special treatment, so I do not employ a canned mastering profile to be used as is on every track.

Publication

 
I can help load your product both to music sites like Bandcamp and Soundcloud, or go further and have it issued to streaming services (I currently use Distrokid). 
I do manufacture good old CDs on a one-by-one basis for a few family members/friends. but large scale production has to be outsourced.
 
 

Covid Procedure

 

In case it comes back. If either of us must isolate for a bit, we can exchange tracks, in either .wav or .aiff form, and I will import them into the project for further work, etc. I use Dropbox for large file transfers.

 

PRICES:

I am willing to work with any artist at any rate they can reasonably afford. The prices shown here are for established musicians who can afford it.

Performance add-ons: $100/hour first track; $50/hour additional for each additional “normal-length” track.*

  • Mixing services: $100 first hour; $50 additional for each additional hour.*

  • Mastering services: $100/hour per track; $50/hour additional for each additional “normal-length” track.*

  • Private-copy CD: $10 single, $8 each up to 10, $7 each up to 15 (MAX) - please supply all artwork. Shipping is separate.

  • Pushing to streaming services: $10 per track.

  • WE WILL OF COURSE NEGOTIATE AT THE BEGINNING AS TO WHAT TOTAL TIME AND COSTS CAN BE EXPECTED.

  • PLEASE NOTE: Half-payment must be received and processed prior to the beginning or release of work. Thank you.
